I'm often asked: "why the name Francesca for a chess program? Is it your wife or girlfriend or something?". The answer to the second question is, no, Francesca isn't the name of my wife or secret lover! However, it was my wife who thought of the name, as its pronunciation provides a nice pun on the word chess, i.e. Franchessca.
